Involved in real estate for several years prior to moving to Tampa,  in 1989, John honed his sales and management skills while working in the medical laboratory business.  After helping to segregate and build a sales and service department  specifically to meet the needs and challenges of nursing and long term care facilities, John went on to open Reliance Medical Laboratory in Largo Florida. Following several years of growth and success the lab was sold in 1996. John became a licensed real estate agent in the state of Florida in 1997. While establishing a successful business with Re/Max, he obtained his real estate brokers license and quickly became the Broker/Manager of 3 RE/Max offices in Tampa, where he successfully grew sales, cut costs, recruited top producing sales associates and trained new agents to become successful sales associates. After watching new business models come along offering agents "mega offices", sometimes over 250 Realtors and other businesses not adapting to recent changes in the industry, John Montesano in 2005, decided to leave RE/Max to open Homeward Real Estate.  A full service brokerage, Homeward Real Estate's business model is to create smaller, more cost efficient "boutique" type offices.  Homeward recruits Realtors who "bring something to the table" good business sense and an understanding of people and money are more important than anytime in the last ten years in this business. "We're interested in agents who are looking to make real estate their livelihood" says John Montesano. "Money cannot be the only motivating factor. We believe we're offering people a real opportunity to be a vital part of a growing company with smart, steady and sturdy growth.
